Human Rat Trap

An experience never before seen on the streets of boulder! I invite you to come and see what it is like to be trapped in a cage. You may never have had the chance to know what this is like, I can’t say that I have.

Most humane rat traps are made of metal and have a spring loaded mechanism that snaps shut once they enter the cage. Since my rat trap is more of a themed ride that you would find at a carnival and not literally a trap, it’s made out of wood to be comforting to the user. It also doesn’t have a floor because of this, and thus I decided that people can enter the cage by lifting it up and going inside. The rungs of the cage are each about a foot apart, so as to not cause too much of a panic, and also if needed the user might be able to exit in between the bars. So although the trap isn’t completely similar to a real rat trap, that is because it’s not supposed to be traumatizing. I don’t think most students can handle the full experience right now, so therefore I’ve manufactured the ‘trap’ to be much more suitable.
